UCLA/ Andrew Mellon Diversity in Conservation Program

July 8-13, 2019

UCLA received a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to help increase diversity in the study and practice of conservation of cultural collections. The grant supports outreach to undergraduate students who are usually underrepresented in conservation fields. Mentoring is another significant part of the program.

In a weeklong workshop, the program offered during the summers. Workshops were designed to introduce students to the conservation field, including a combination of theoretical discussions, practical exercises, and visits to museums and conservation labs in the greater Los Angeles area.
